Nonprofit Spotlight: Ruff Adventure Dog Adoption Program

Don't let his sweet smile and fluffy exterior fool ya. This is one tough, adventure-loving dog. Coolest pup around. Sweetest older brother. Travel and adventure partner. It's hard to picture life without him, and even harder to believe that he was once a homeless dog. I met and rescued one-year-old Oreo from Animal-Aid six years ago, and we have been inseparable since. You can read more about him here and swoon.

October is ASPCA's Adopt a Shelter Dog month, and it couldn't be an easier cause for me and my family to support! With that said, I partnered with awesome performance dog gear maker Ruffwear and their Ruff Adventure Dog Adoption Program for this month's nonprofit spotlight.

Ruffwear joined forces with Best Friends Animal Society  to provide funding, donate gear and spread the word about active, adoptable dogs at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Southern Utah. As an adventure-loving, outdoor oriented organization, they believe dogs make the best running, paddling, hiking and camping partners (and I agree!). Many of the adoptable dogs at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary are also fresh air-seeking, high-energy pups who would LOVE to find an outdoor adventure partner for life.

The coolest part is that all approved adoptions will be paid for (including travel fees from Utah) by Ruffwear, and each adopted dog will also go home with a new Ruffwear collar and leash.

If it were up to Oreo, he would spend all day every day exploring the great outdoors, and I don't blame him! I can't believe how lucky we are to have him in our lives. To find your new best friend, check out Ruffwear's R.A.D. Adoption Program and start your journey today.
