Nonprofit Spotlight: Southwest Valley Literacy Association

My first non-profit spotlight goes to a local organization that is near and dear to my heart: Southwest Valley Literacy Association, an affiliate chapter of the national project ProLiteracy America, located in the Phoenix metro, AZ.

The mission of ProLiteracy and its affiliates, such as the Southwest Valley Literacy Association, is to teach Literacy and English as a Second Language (one of my teaching subjects!) to adults solely through the recruiting and training of volunteers. All adults, regardless of nationality or ethnicity, who wish to learn to speak, read, and write English are welcome to enroll.

More volunteer teachers are always needed, so if you or someone you know lives in the Phoenix metro and would like to get involved, contact the SVLA office!
